Ophthalmology

Our primary focus is on providing therapeutic benefit for diseases that affect the back of the eye, including symptomatic vitreomacular adhesion. This disease primarily involves the macula area of the retina — the most sensitive part of the retina, which is important in maintaining central vision needed to read, drive, and perform other activities — and the vitreous body.

There is evidence that symptomatic vitreomacular adhesion contributes to the development of several well-known eye disorders, such as macular hole and macular pucker, that can cause visual impairment, including blindness.1 It may also be associated with visual disorders such as wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic macular edema (DME), retinal vein occlusion, and diabetic retinopathy (DR).
